ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Shalana
WHERE I COME FROM
I was born in California and stayed there until my freshman year of high school when I came to Hillsboro, OR to live my dad.
I then lived in Wyoming and finished High School there before returning to OR at the age of 24.
Since 1998 I have lived in Birkenfeld, Clatskanie and Rainier and love the smaller towns.
A THRIVING CAREER
I am in my 20th year of working at the Rainier School District. I started there as an Instructional Assistant back in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed helping students.
In 2012 I made a change and became the Youth Transition Specialist, where I was able to help students with employment skills, resume building and employer expectations. With the help of my students and some talented co-workers we created the Gingerbread House and did sales every winter so students could have the opportunity to buy something for their family members.
In 2021 I switched positions once again to my current position, Administrative Assistant and Board Secretary. This position has taught me a lot about local budgeting in Oregon, Robert's Rules, Noticing Meetings, Minutes, Resolutions, and Policy.
I look forward to using what I've learned to help the RCD.
